Opening on Wednesday 25 September at 18.30 at
Galleria Paolo Curti / Annamaria Gambuzzi & Co: an
exhibition by Ettore Sottsass.
The show features twenty large objects in silver produced
in limited edition, designed by Sottsass specifically for this
event.
The works of Ettore Sottsass are created through the assemblage
of simple geometric figures (cubes, cylinders, spheres, etc.) and
an elementary use of perspective. Evident characteristics include
the utilization of a simple alphabet of forms, but reconsidered
in a new way and reference to the perplexities of ancient
cultures. Thus even a simple line in his drawings, firm, direct,
normal, seems so solid that it could support the entire world.
His works and designs are part of the permanent collections of
important museums, including the Museum of Modern Art of
New York, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, Centre
Georges Pompidou of Paris, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs
of Paris, the Victoria & Albert Museum of London, the
Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Montreal, the Israel Museum
of Jerusalem, the National Museum of Stockholm.

Si inaugura mercoledì 25 settembre alle ore 18,30 presso la
galleria Paolo Curti / Annamaria Gambuzzi & Co la mostra di
Ettore Sottsass.
Presenti in galleria venti grandi argenti realizzati in
edizione limitata disegnati da Sottsass espressamente per la
mostra.
I suoi progetti sono costituiti mediante l’assemblaggio di figure
geometriche semplici ( cubi, cilindri , sfere, ecc.) e con un uso
elementare della prospettiva. Evidenti nel suo lavoro sono
l’utilizzo di un alfabeto formale semplice ma ripensato in modo
nuovo e un rimando alla perplessita’ delle culture antiche. E’ così
che anche una semplice linea dei suoi disegni, ferma, diretta,
normale sembra essere tanto solida da reggere il mondo intero.
Sue opere e progetti fanno parte delle collezioni permanenti di
importanti musei tra cui il Museum of Modern Art di New
York, il Metropolitan Museum di New York, il Centre
George Pompidou di Parigi, il Musée des Arts Décoratifs
di Parigi, il Victoria & Albert Museum di Londra, il
Musée des Arts Décoratifs di Montreal, l’ Israel
Museum di Gerusalemme, il National Museum di Stoccolma.
