Paolo Curti & Co. gallery opens the new season with the exhibition of the artist Tristano di Robilant.
The sculpture, and particularly the bronze, is the main expression of the work of the artist. Quite often his works come from pongo's model, quickly manipulated, where he is trying to create an effect that obtains the speed of the still action in time. Sometimes his sculptures looks like strange coloured toys, where architectonic and playful aspects are bonded together. The final result is small, medium and large structures where the scale is overturned or interpreted, creating a sense of unreality, looking at his sculptures it sometimes feels like being in the land of Lilliput. Robilant's work drives you to an imaginary world and, like he himself states, you are driven in a sofa's tourism, traveling around the world while always sitting on your sofa.
Sometimes the subjects are orange mountains where, suddenly, little white balls are inserted; an enlarged fishbone where a fantastic architecture is supported; a dogon architecture that resembles a multicoloured mousetrap.

Tristano di Robilant was born in London in 1964, he lives and works in Rome. He has exhibited in New York at Holly Salomon and at Lance Fung and in other several galleries in Berlin, Bruxelles, and Zurich.

La scultura, ed in particolare il bronzo, costituisce l'espressione più tipica del lavoro dell'artista. I suoi lavori nascono spesso da modelli di pongo manipolati velocemente, l'effetto cercato è quello di una velocità d'azione ferma nel tempo. Sembrano a volte strani “giocattoli” colorati, dove l'aspetto architettonico e quello ludico si fondono e compenetrano. Il risultato finale è quello di piccole, medie o grandi costruzioni dove la “scala” viene ribaltata o interpretata, creando un senso di irrealtà: guardando le sue sculture sembra a volte di essere nel paese di Lilliput. Il lavoro di di Robilant ti conduce in mondi immaginari e, come lui stesso afferma, ti porta a fare un turismo da poltrona, a vagare nel mondo senza muoverti dalla tua poltrona.
I soggetti sono a volte montagne di colore arancione sulle quali poggiano, inaspettatamente, piccole palle bianche; una lisca di pesce ingrandita su cui appoggia una architettura fantastica; un'architettura dogon che sembra una multicolore trappola per topi.
