Enzo Cucchi. Second day

Second day is the title given by Enzo Cucchi of the exhibition taking place at Paolo Curti & Co gallery. After many years of absence within the Milanese artistic scene, Cucchi has created a new collection of works worthy of the fame and of the high and sophisticated vision typical of the great masters.
It's very difficult to add more about Enzo Cucchi than what has already been written since the beginning of the eighties up to today in more than 150 books and catalogues published about him. We shall confine ourselves, quoting some of Enzo Cucchi's answers of an interview by Giacinto di Pietrantonio which can be found in the catalogue published by Paolo Curti & Co for this exhibition:

G.D.P. What are you up to?
E.C. I strive to give to others a sense of sacredness, because an art event is not just a formal fact but also a moment where you put a mark on your dedication. You must have a feeling of joining a tribe where there is the stick of command, because you are in a sacred place with its rules.
G.D.P. Is this why you gave to this work a shape of an enclosure, a way to circumscribe this place that you define as sacred?
E.C. It is a guard rail. In fact the exhibition has a quality of a motorway.

Enzo Cucchi was born at Morro D'Alba in 1949, the artist lives and works between Rome and Ancona. During the 1980's he exhibited in all the major museums around the world, to name but a few: Kunsthaus, Zurich (1982); Kunstmuseum, Dusseldorf (1985); Guggenheim Museum, New York (1986); more recently some of his solo exhibitions include: Castello di Rivoli, Turin (1993); National Gallery of Modern Art, Rome (1998); Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Hamburg (1999).
The gallery will be displaying eight new oil on canvas which are part of the "Second day" project, a series of drawings and some oil on canvas of large dimensions. Secondo giorno è il titolo della mostra che Enzo Cucchi ha pensato per lo spazio della galleria Paolo Curti &.Co. Dopo lunghi anni di assenza dalla scena artistica milanese, Cucchi ha preparato una nuova serie di lavori degni della fama e dell'alta e sofisticata visione tipica dei grandi maestri. E' difficile aggiungere altre parole a quelle già scritte dall'inizio degli anni ottanta ad oggi in oltre 150 tra libri e cataloghi pubblicati su di lui. Ci limitiamo a riportare alcuni passi dell'intervista di Giacinto Di Pietrantonio ad Enzo Cucchi che accompagna il catalogo/bastone pubblicato dalla galleria Paolo Curti & Co. in occasione della mostra:

G.D.P. Cosa stai preparando?
E.C. Cerco di ridare ad altri una forma di sacralità, perché un evento d'arte non è solo un fatto formale, ma un momento in cui circoscrivi una sacralita'. Devi avere il senso di entrare in una tribu, dove c'é anche il bastone del comando, perché si é in un luogo sacrale con le sue regole.
G.D.P. Per questo hai dato all'opera una forma di recinto, un modo per circoscrivere questo luogo che tu hai definito sacro?
E.C. E' un guard rail. Infatti la mostra ha la qualità di un'autostrada.

Nato a Morro d'Alba nel 1949, l'artista vive e lavora tra Roma ed Ancona. Durante gli anni ottanta ha esposto in tutti i più grandi musei del mondo, tra i quali ricordiamo:
